Volunteers Needed at National Historic Landmark Site
Ambridge, PA - Are you adventurous? Enjoy working with children? Do you like to work with your hands? Do you have a desire to volunteer? Then the Volunteer Coordinator at Old Economy Village is looking for you. Economy is recruiting volunteers for a variety of positions including Tour Guide, Historic Craft Demonstrator and Maintenance Support. Hours are flexible and training is provided by Museum Staff. Unpaid Internships and Volunteer positions are also available to College students. Volunteering at Old Economy Village will provide training and on-the-job experience as well as an opportunity for career exploration in museum studies, history, and education. Old Economy Village is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, Noon- 5 p.m. on Sunday. Economy, a National Historic Landmark site, has 17 restored structures furnished with collections of the Harmony Society, a German immigrant group known for its industrial prosperity in textiles and manufacturing, railroad investments and winemaking. Visitors encounter ever-changing traditional tradesmen, perform historic chores and view formal gardens, original paintings, tools, books and furnishings. The Visitor Center offers guests an orientation film, exhibits and the museum store.
Old Economy Village is one of 25 historic sites and museums on the Pennsylvania Trail of History®, administered by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
