Filling a vault again…

Your train ticket to 200 years of history.

The Friends of Old Economy Village need your support. While we have bounced back from the closure of 2020-21, we still have a mountain to climb as we approach our Bicentennial in 2024. Attendance is increasing slowly, and we are planning to provide you with new programs as well as traditional favorites. As costs have risen for supplies and services, we are doing our best to sustain operations. Because of your generous support we have always been able to meet the challenges before us. With your continued generosity, we are hoping to raise $80,000 by the end of next year to support current and new programming.

Our journey began 200 years ago, when the Harmonie Society settled here in 1824. The Society would become economically successful and would help shape the next two hundred years of Beaver County History, by getting involved with various industries including the railways. These efforts were initially successful, and the Harmonists soon found themselves wealthy partners in the railroad, coal, and oil businesses.

Opening the door for you to experience another facet of Harmonist history; a portion of the funds will be used to showcase the train vault wing in the George Rapp House in 2024. A hidden gem of the site, these rooms may have served for a time as the offices for the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad. As we travel on our journey down the track the train cars will fill with gold. When we reach our goal, the train will be bringing $80,000 or more into the station.

We acknowledge that we rely on your support and again thank you for all that you do. Your gifts allow us to continue to share the legacy of the Harmonie Society for generations to come. Please take this opportunity to show your support and Fill the Vault for 2023-24.
