Camp is designed for children ages 6 to 12. Six-year-old children must have completed Kindergarten to attend camp.
Retired Art Teacher, Dee Ruckert will be conducting the art camps at Old Economy Village. Children will try different types of art mediums while exploring Old Economy Village. They will see original examples of reverse glass painting and then do a reverse glass painting of their own. They will visit the Natural History Museum and learn about Alexander Wilson who sketched and painted birds of the United States. They will get a chance to see the Harmonists copies of the 9 volume Alexander Wilson bird books and see a bird book made by a Harmonist. Sketching, watering coloring foil embossing, silk egg dying and creating a mosaic are some of the other art projects that will be done throughout the week using the buildings and gardens for inspiration.
For members (of F.O.E.V.) the cost is $40 for the first child and $35 for each additional child.
For non-members the cost is $50 for the first child and $45 for each additional child.
