The Rivers of Steel Heritage Corporation of Homestead, PA has awarded a matching grant of $12,000 to the Friends of Old Economy Village of Ambridge, PA.
The grant will help fund year one of a two-year initiative called “Bringing History Alive at Old Economy Village.” The primary objective is to increase attendance at the Village from 13,000 to 25,000 visitors annually. The initiative will also focus on the recruitment of more volunteers, as well as increasing the number of members at the Friends of Old Economy Village.
Plans for the grant include implementing the zone system of interpretation for tours at the Village; providing ongoing crafts, trades, daily life education classes, and hands-on learning opportunities; as well as a significant effort to increase marketing for events and programs year-round. Work on the Bringing History Alive initiative has already commenced and will extend through the end of 2019.
