Historic Trades Workshop @ Old Economy Village
Sep 30 all-day

We are excited to announce our Fall Trades Workshops. Come out for a day of fun and learning. Linda Thomas will be teaching a class on jams & jellies and Ed Appleby will be teaching a class on blacksmithing. At the end of the sessions you’ll have learned something and have something to take home as the result of your efforts.

Linda will teach one session from 10:00 – 1:00 and can accept up to 12 participants. The cost will be $25 for non-members and $20 for FOEV members.

Ed will be offering a morning session and an afternoon session, each can accommodate 4 students. Morning session is 10:00 – 1:00 and afternoon is 2:00 – 5:00. The cost will be $35 for non-members and $28 for FOEV members.

Erntedankfest: A Harvest Festival @ Old Economy Village

applesThis event celebrates the fall harvest and many of the tasks done to prepare for winter. Artisans will be cooking, baking and demonstrating many different crafts and skills. Music, food and activities for the whole family make this a great fall tradition!

A Halloween Haunting @ Old Economy Village

We are pleased to announce our second annual Trick or Treat event here in the Village. Costumed children ages 10 and under will go “door-to-door” on the historic site and trick or treat. Costumed interpreters and guides will greet visitors as they make their way around the site. In addition there will be other activities and refreshments for everyone.

If you’ve been to the Easter Egg hunt and enjoyed it, come out and see us for this Fall family event. If you’ve never been out to see us this is a great time for your first visit.

Behind-the-Scenes Experience @ Old Economy Village

See behind the scenes at Old Economy Village. The focus for this event will be lighting. Travel through the village by lantern light and see various types of lighting that the Harmonists used. View artifacts in storage rarely seen by the human eye. The program will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m.
 
Light refreshments and non-alcoholic beverages will be served. Participants are permitted and encouraged to bring along their favorite beverage (alcoholic or otherwise) to enjoy afterwards!

BelsnickelWalk along a candlelit cobblestone street and window shop in the various stores that contain interpreters eager to show off wares from this time. People looking for last minute gift ideas will find unique handmade items for sale by vendors. Local choirs will be performing. Children’s crafts and activities along with Belsnickel (Pennsylvania Dutch Santa Claus) will be found in the Granary.

Saturday, December 2nd 2pm – 9pm
Sunday, December 3rd 2pm – 7pm

Regular admission prices:
$10.00 Adults
$9.00 Senior (65+)
$6.00 Youth (3-11)
Free – Children under age 3, Active duty military
Free for FOEV Members and Ambridge Pass holders as well
