Spring Garden Seminar @ Old Economy Village

Join us for our annual Spring event. 

New for this year: Friday evening festivities!

Friday, March 29, 2019:

This year we added a Friday night festivities. There will be a keynote address and we will be serving wine and cheese. Our keynote speaker will be Peter Lowe, and his address will be about will discuss Dawes Arboretum and the influence public gardens have on garden trends

Saturday, March 30, 2019:

Topics and experts to expand a gardener’s mind

 All day presentations, Hands-on learning, tastings, and samples for you and your garden with a variety of speakers covering different gardening topics, including: 

Peter Lowe (Dawes Arboretum)
 His presentation will focus on native alternatives to invasive plants. 

Gabe Tilove (Phipp’s Conservatory)
He speaking about the benefits that raised beds offer and reviewing the attributes of different raised bed materials.

Joanne Ranck Dirks (Landis Valley Village and Farm Museum)
She will be discussing the heirloom seed project, as well as seed saving basics in her presentation! 

Cynthia Pagesh
She will be talking about The Herb Society of America. 

Lunch will be provided and there will be a historic garden tour. 

Reception and lunch included in the cost:

Non-Member- $60

Erntedankfest: A Harvest Festival @ Old Economy Village
Oct 5 @ 10:00 am – 5:00 pm

applesThis event celebrates the fall harvest and many of the tasks done to prepare for winter. Artisans will be cooking, baking and demonstrating many different crafts and skills. Music, food and activities for the whole family make this a great fall tradition!

There will be a variety of vendors selling their wares, everything from soap to pottery as well as food and drink among other things.

Musical acts will be performing throughout the two days, stay tuned for the performance schedule.

There will be activities for the young as well as the young at heart!

                                                October 5-6, 2019

                                    Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
                                     Sunday 12:00 noon – 5:00 p.m.

Admission to this event is regular price:

Adults:     $10.00

Senior (65+)     $9.00

Walk along a candlelit cobblestone street and visit the historic buildings with interpreters eager to show off wares from the nineteenth century. People looking for last minute gift ideas will find unique handmade items for sale by vendors. Local choirs will be performing. Children’s crafts and activities along with Belsnickel (Pennsylvania Dutch Santa Claus) will be found in the Granary.  Food is available for purchase.
