Come see the re-created Harmonist natural history museum.  Under the direction of Dr. Johann Christoph Muller, the Harmony Society operated a public museum from the mid-1820s until it closed in 1850.  It was the first of its kind west of the Allegheny Mountains.

The Harmony Society had cobblers, woodworkers, basket weavers, coopers, blacksmiths, and many others.  Today a trade such broom making, basket weaving, printing, or something else will be featured.

The Fabric of Their Lives: Textiles @ Old Economy Village

See the process of making textiles.  The Harmonists were known worldwide for their quality cloth.  They crossbred merino sheep from Spain with local sheep.  The Harmony Society purchased cotton from the south and raised silk worms to make silk fabrics.  The cotton and woolen mills closed about 1845, and the silk mill closed about 1855.
